Augustsson-Zanotelli Stables merge with the Ashford Group
After Marlon Modolo Zanotelli and Angelica Augustsson-Zanotelli formed their careers and had many successful years as team riders for Ashford Farm, the couple decided to develop their own stable in Eksel, Belgium in 2016. Eight years later they will join the growing Ashford Group which will embody multiple equestrian ventures alongside the established Ashford Farm stables in Bocholt. “As the Ashford Group continues to grow, we aspire to bring the best possible professionals to our expanding business”, Enda Carroll begins to explain.
Join forces
“The collaboration with Marlon and Angelica has always remained close. Both riders regularly compete with Ashford Farm (co)-owned horses and over the years we’ve traded and sold many horses together as well”, Enda continues. “Augustsson-Zanotelli Stables will merge with the Ashford Group and our companies will join forces. We are very excited to work even closer together with Marlon and Angelica, while they continue to work from their state-of-the-art facility. They are highly motivated and extremely talented equestrians, and I believe together we will be stronger. We gladly welcome them into the fold of the newest developments of the Ashford Group.”
Natural collaboration
Both Marlon Modolo Zanotelli and Angelica Augustsson-Zanotelli are excited about the next step into their renewed collaboration. “Ashford Farm has always had a very special place in our hearts and the opportunity to work closer together with Enda and his team is very exciting and feels natural to us”, Angelica continues. “We look forward to adding our strengths to the strengths of Ashford Farm. In this case 1 + 1 does not equal 2 but 3. We are confident we can accomplish great things together”, Marlon concludes.
Flying the Ashford Farm flag
With this merger Marlon and Angelica will fly the flag for Ashford Farm again, in addition to its established riders Jana Wargers and Giavanna Rinaldi. With the Ashford Group currently expanding, Jana will be relocating to her hometown of Emsdetten in Germany and will continue to represent the Ashford Farm brand as a rider at top level. Giavanna Rinaldi has been representing Ashford Farm very successfully in both Europe and North America and she will continue to do so with Bocholt as her home base.
The development of the Ashford Group
“With our COO Michael Cristofoletti having trained Jana for many years from European Championships all the way to the Olympics, we are now exploring the options to have Michael, Marlon and Angelica share their exclusive insights as coaches to a limited number of suitable students. There are many exciting developments to come, and we look forward to working with all these professionals and have them as ambassadors for the Ashford Group”, Enda Carroll concludes.
The Ashford Group invests in world-class equestrian estate in Portugal
Ashford Farm’s Enda Carroll is expanding the Ashford Group. Together with one of his business partners, the Irish entrepreneur is planning to build a flagship equestrian facility in the Algarve. The new Ashford venture will be a preeminent equestrian facility that caters for Grand Prix riders but is accessible to all. The location will feature top-quality accommodation and amenities for both horse, rider and the equestrian community.
Plans for the 80 hectare site are in the development stage and the team is working on the infrastructure and building permits. “The location is fantastic, and we are very excited to start developing the land. In due course we will present a unique international venue for showjumping and dressage with top-level facilities for horses and everyone involved in the sport”, Enda explains.
Showcase excellence
Expanding the Ashford Group in Portugal has been a longtime dream for Enda and his team. He plans to incorporate all the best practice he has seen and enjoyed around the world, into his own facility in the south of Europe. “We want to showcase the excellence of horse sports. And create something very special for the equestrian sport to flourish in the Algarve.”
The perfect location
Enda will create a second home in the Algarve for his family, who are currently located at Ashford Farm in Belgium. “I fell in love with the Algarve and its beautiful surroundings, the excellent climate, accessibility, hospitality, gastronomy, beaches and all the leisure and sport activities the surrounding area offers. My dream is to create a place for my family and others to enjoy horse sports, family life and a place that creates business opportunities for the community and people in our industry.”
Timeline
“Good things take time, as they should. The project is well on track, and we are positive that everything will come together in due course. It will be worth the wait!”
Parfait van het Schaeck available for breeding
The stables of Augustsson-Zanotelli and Ashford Farm have joined forces to make one of their stallions available for breeding. Co-owned Parfait van het Schaeck (Comme Il Faut x Diamant de Semilly) is approved by the BWP studbook and at just eight years old he has already sired two BWP-approved stallions.
“We bought Parfait because he impressed us in the national youngster classes and because myself and Enda Carroll know the qualities of his mother, Like a Diamond van het Schaeck, so well”, co-owner and rider Marlon Zanotelli explains. “We want Parfait to be available for breeding as well as focus on his development in the sport. On top of his incredible breeding lines, he combines a lot of quality and blood with a super character. He is also very light of the ground and has a fantastic rideability.”
Well-known dam line
The Brazilian showjumper currently holds the reins of both Parfait van het Schaeck and his mother Like a Diamond van het Schaeck. “Parfait is a very careful modern type horse with a lot of blood, partly thanks to his mother. Her pedrigree was also a very important part on the decision of buying Parfait. This dam line is very successful and well-known for producing many Grand Prix and Championship horses. Like a Diamond herself is an absolutely amazing horse with many successes at the top-level of the sport. She is probably one of the best horses I’ve ever had the chance to ride.”
Promissing first crop
Parfait himself has already proven to pass on the genes of his praised pedigree. The just eight year old stallion has already sired two BWP-approved stallions from his first crop; Tattoo H&DB (ds. Kannan) and It’s Parfait van het Schaeck (ds. Nabab de Reve out of Exquis Walnut de Muze). “We are very excited to see how Parfait will develop, both in the sport as well as a progenitor. So far he keeps impressing us, so I hope the breeders will also be interested in Parfait.”

Jana finishes as 9th and best lady rider at WEG Herning 2022 with Limbridge
What an experience the Jumping World Championships have been! We celebrate a huge milestone with Jana and Limbridge finishing in 0th place as individual riders at their first big championships event!
With the German Team this amazing duo already impressed with three clear rounds, helping the Germans secure a 5th position and a qualification for the Olympic Games in Paris 2024. Thanks to their excellent results Jana and Limbridge qualified to compete in the individual final on Sunday.
The best 21 riders of the WEG all jumped in the first round with Jana and Limbridge once again on top of their game, clearing the fantastically built course in Herning. The 12 combinations with the lowest number of penalty point were invited to jump in the second round. Two weeks in Samorin lead to many top results
So many classes, so many results and in our case after two weeks of jumping in Samorin we are very happy with the progress of our horses and the matching top results.
For example, our eight-year-old Nutcracker (by Centadel) proved to be in excellent shape at the X-Bionic Equestor Sphere. With Michael Cristofoletti he jumped clear rounds only for two weeks in a row, collecting a total of four top ten placings, while an unfortunate pole down kept this pair from the final Grand Prix jump-off but still earned them the 10th place.
Michael also did a top job with eleven-year-old Hold it Against Me (by Chacco-Blue). They won the CSI2* Grand Prix in the first week of the tour, in which Jana placed second with nine-year-old Singulord Joter-son Sidney Sam.
Michael and Jana also did very well in the CSI3* Silver tour, respectively finishing in 6th place with Cartino and scoring a 3rd place Clash Royale. Jana finished the tour off with nice a second place in the CSI2* Grand Prix with nine-year-old Corny M (by Connor).
Limbridge and Jana part of winning Nations Cup team in Aachen
Winning a Nations Cup is already a fantastic achievement by any means, but winning it on home soil at one of the most legendary shows in the world, that is pure magic!
What a night it was Thursday with the CHIO Aachen stadium filled to the brim with equestrian enthusiast who came to watch the match unfold under the floodlights and umbrella’s. No amount of rain would hold back the fans that came to cheer on their favorite riders.
For the home team our Limbridge and Jana Wargers had been selected to represent Germany and thanks to their efforts and those of her fantastic jumping team mates the crowd saw their home riders seize the victory after a nail-biting second round.
We are very proud of Limbridge and Jana and the rest of the German team. A huge congratulations to all: the riders, horses, owners, groom, chef d’equipe and the how organisation of CHIO Aachen. It has been our privilege to compete at this amazing event again. We look forward to next year!
Top trio of horses sold to Eric Lamaze’s stable
Press Release courtesy of Starting Gate Communications:
French show jumping athlete Nina Mallevaey has three new horses under her saddle thanks to the generosity of the Rein family.
Cartier SR, a 10-year-old grey Holsteiner gelding (Canturenter x San Patrignano Cassini); Crack d’La Rousserie, a 10-year-old chestnut Selle Français gelding (Quaprice Bois Margot Quincy x Apache d’Adriers); and Chagall des Erables Z, a seven-year-old bay Zangersheide stallion (Cazador LS x Toulon) were acquired from Enda Carroll’s Ashford Farm. The trio of show jumping talents were purchased by Rein Family LLC, owned by Canadians Mark Rein and his wife, Tara Dow-Rein, who began supporting Lamaze in 2020. Following Lamaze’s formal retirement from competition earlier this year, Mallevaey and Canadian Olympian, Beth Underhill, have taken over the reins on his top mounts.
“I am really excited, it is a big opportunity for me,” said Mallevaey who began working for Lamaze in August of 2021. “Eric was my idol when I was young, and to work for him now and be part of such an incredible team is very special. I’ve got to experience a lot of new things. Going to Florida this winter was a big experience, and so is being on a Global Champions League team. I’m very thankful for everything that the Rein family is doing for me.”
Since becoming a rider for Lamaze’s Torrey Pines Stable, the 22-year-old has made her debut in Fédération Equestre Internationale (FEI) five-star competition at the 2022 Winter Equestrian Festival in Wellington, FL. She was also selected for the Rome Gladiators team, owned by Rein Family LLC, for this season’s Global Champions League, held as part of the Longines Global Champions Tour (GCT). At GCT Miami, FL, she won Round Two of the Global Champions League competition riding Chacco Kid before placing second two weeks later riding Kino in the €100,000 1.55m Trofeo Banorte at CSI5* GCT Mexico, MEX.
“We have been impressed with Nina’s natural talent and dedication to the horses,” said Tara Dow-Rein. “She has been a great addition to our Rome Gladiators team, exceeding our expectations. We’re happy to support Nina and help accelerate her presence at the top level of the sport.”
Lamaze added, “It’s not often that a 22-year-old is presented with this sort of opportunity to advance their career – it’s almost like a fairy tale – and I know Nina will make the most of it. I cannot think of anyone more deserving; she’s a dedicated and hard worker with no ego. Mark and Tara are committed owners and I’m extremely grateful for their generosity in providing Torrey Pines team members with top mounts.
“I would like to thank Enda Carroll for working with us and showing us these horses,” continued Lamaze. “We originally went to Ashford Farm to purchase one horse. After he showed us his inventory, we left with three superstar horses for the future.”
“It was a privilege to sell these three horses to Eric Lamaze’s stable and we are very thankful to the Rein family for their trust in Ashford Farm,” said Carroll, a veteran of the Irish show jumping team who operates Ashford Farm in Bocholt, Belgium. “It will be a pleasure seeing these three horses continue their careers with Eric’s rider, Nina Mallevaey, and we look forward watching them advance and grow to the highest level of the sport. I want to take this opportunity to thank Eric and the Rein family for their confidence and to also thank my team for their continuous hard work with a special mention to the rider of these three horses, Cecilie Tofte, who has done an amazing job of getting them to this point.”
Currently based at Lamaze’s Belgian location, Mallevaey will begin competing with her new horses at smaller shows as she gets to know them.
